Prague Explorer: A Stunning Prague Rooftop You Haven’t Been to and more
What are some great, lesser-known Prague markets, parks, restaurants, cafés, events, or musicians? Let’s discover Prague together! Here are some ideas I collected for you in the past weeks that you need to check out including a stunning Prague rooftop and more.
Prague Rooftop: Glass Bar
Did you know there was a bar on the top floor of Dancing House with a rooftop terrace? I didn’t till I was looking up places for a friend’s birthday party recently. We wanted a place with a view over Prague, and so there were the usual suspects – T-anker, Žižkov tower, Terasa u Prince, Cloud 9, Duplex or Balcony bar.
Glass Bar, in the end, won as the place with the best WIEW over Prague. Haha, just kidding. Besides the typo on their sign, they offer a stunning view over the Prague Castle and National Theatre and reasonably priced drinks. They won’t let you enter the terrace without a purchase, so treat yourself, get a drink, enjoy the WIEW, and let me know how you liked it 😉
🍸 Open daily 10 AM – 10 PM (and sometimes longer)
📍 Jirasek Square 6
Restaurants, Cafés & Pubs: Sun.Day Terrace
“Georgian cuisine on a sunny terrace in the center of Prague? Sounds awesome!” I thought… In Lublaňská street, just before. I.P Pavlova, I turned left and was greeted by a pleasant garden in a natural minimalist style full of plants. And that’s where my expectations about Sun.Day Terrace were met for the last time.
I opened the menu, and my middle-class heart almost got an attack when I saw the prices. “Alright, it’s a specialty cuisine at a great location. It will surely be delicious and the service outstanding.” I tried to reason. However, after tasting a few dishes that arrived at the table at random times instead of at once, I classified it as pretentious and inconsistent. Constantly fighting for the waiter’s attention and reminding him of our orders was also relatively annoying.
It’s a beautiful place with big potential. I wish them to tap into it! If you stop by there, let me know how you liked it.
🍸 Open daily 11 AM – 10 PM

Culture & Community: Karlin Barracks / Kasárna Karlín
The Karlin Barracks is a fantastic cultural oasis where you can find a café, a cinema, a playground, a beach volleyball court, a campfire pit, a bar, a club, and newly also sauna… all in one courtyard.
There is a permanent exhibition that will take you through the history of the barracks until the day when they were first opened to the public in June 2017 during the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of Karlín.
Kasárna also offers a colorful cultural program every week. And I use this great space to organize regular Monday community meetings around Prague Actually. Feel free to join the group: Life, Prague, and Everything to meet friends, make new ones, and inspire each other. You will find more information about the meet-ups in the group.

Sustainable Shopping: NILA Stores
Just bought a new pair of wonderfully white sneakers… And wonder how long they will stay white on the streets of Vinohrady and Žižkov. Anyway… I’m a big fan of Veja, the environmentally friendly sneakers made with raw materials sourced from organic farming and ecological agriculture, without chemicals or polluting processes.
In Prague, you can find them for example at the NILA (Czech only), the independent concept store with ethical and nature-friendly fashion, organic cosmetics, and accessories for lifestyle, health, and beauty. The store offers pieces from more than 40 carefully selected, independent brands and designers, including their own brand NILA. There are several branches in Prague, as well as a well-functioning e-shop.

Nature & Trips: Bohnická Vyhlídka
Look at Prague from a new angle. Bohnice is the highest district of Prague and the hill above the zoo in Prague’s Troja offers a wonderful view of the entire city.
You can get to Bohnická vyhlídka by bus from the Kobylisy metro station or from the Zoo. Alternatively, you can take a walk from Stromovka or Dejvice or even take a ferry across the Vltava and walk through the nature park Drahan-Troja.
