New Whimsical Surprises from the Unconventional Music Producer Nicco Lupen

Prague-based music producer Nicco Lupen is coming this November to surprise us yet again with a track that is unlike anything we’ve heard from him so far. Nicco is constantly pushing his limits. He unceasingly surprises his audience with new collaborations and genres, taking your experience to a new level. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, boom! He’s here to blow your mind with the next thing. Thoughtful and professional production, high sound quality, and mesmerizing video clips – everything works together. Nicco will leave you with an amazing and unique experience and will make you look forward to what surprises await you in his next work.

Italian native Nicco Lupen cultivated his love of music with a bass guitar in his hands, playing in a punk band in his teenage years. He then moved to Spain, and the diversity and overlap of musical genres he encountered seduced him. He spent his twenties DJing and experimenting with music styles at parties in Spain and playing at some of Europe’s biggest festivals, such as the Rototom Sunsplash.

Nicco, now settled in Prague, self-produces mood-based tracks that fall outside genre labels. His music is like the proverbial Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates… you never know what genre or mood you’re gonna get. Just hit PLAY to go down the rabbit hole.

The Big Turning Point of Nicco Lupen ’s Work

After moving to Prague, Nicco participated in several music projects, where he played his favorite instrument, the bass guitar. In 2020, driven by a desire for creative freedom, he began writing a new chapter in his music career and producing music under his own brand. “I really love that I’m finally free to create songs according to my current mood without getting stuck in a genre.”

Over the past year, Nicco succeeded in establishing his new musical identity and finetuning his workflow. The turning point of his work was the February release of the Tunisian collaboration Wa9et Mzamer. “This track moved my production to a whole new level in terms of quality of the sound and everything… I was like, ‘Fuck! I did that!’ That was a point of no return.”

Since then, Nicco has produced several tracks in various genres, always testing and pushing his limits. “In terms of numbers, my most popular song is the Italian, Pioltello Addosso,” he names some of his projects. “I had an exciting collaboration with Klez Brandar on a track La difficulté. It’s a music background for a section in his audiobook. I enjoyed the contrast of the deep content and dance music.” You can find these tracks in his newest EP, The Orange Issue.

Love Lasts, Anger Fades – Tying Loose Ends

On the 12th of November, Nicco’s releasing a nostalgic retro-wave single, Love Lasts Anger Fades, featuring vocals by Anna Izbicka of Nola dis. “This is the song I’m most personally and sentimentally attached to,” Nicco projects challenging experiences from his previous relationships into this song. Love Lasts, Anger Fades are the slogans he has tattooed on his wrists.

Nicco created this then untitled instrumental track last year. After its success in a competition for producers, he decided to complement the song with vocals. “Anna captured what I wanted to express very well and put it down in lyrics in such an awesome way that I couldn’t really think of any better.”

“The release of this song will be, for me, a closing-many-circles event, not only in my personal life but also in my career since it’s the last track of this kind, giving then space to other projects of a very different genre and style.” Nicco’s tying loose ends this year to move on to new things.

With a New Album on the Way, Nicco’s Hungrier Than Ever

Nicco reveals that he’s moving in the direction of his favorite genres, “My main focus is now on preparing to release an album next year.” We can expect a fusion of hip-hop, dancehall, and reggae with other styles in a coherent experience on his new album.

“I’m more aware than before of my role and the limits I have as a music producer. And I want to invest in even better sound with professional help,” Nicco shares that he is currently looking for a sound engineer. “I am constantly taking steps forward, advancing. My musical goals do not change but become hungrier.”
