500
Our journey begins at a place that can only be described as an edible masterpiece – Restaurant 500, tucked away in Prague 6, Hradčany.
Sometimes unexpected cravings lead to the most delightful discoveries. I found this place after a thrilling ambush of the Spanish Embassy with my friends We stumbled upon Restaurant 500 and instantly knew we had found a gem. This place is fresh and original, and the food? Absolutely mouthwatering.
I opted for a classic dish: spaghetti bolognese. And I loved it! The pasta was lovingly homemade, perfectly al dente, and coated in a rich, flavorful sauce. Each bite was a celebration of simplicity and genuine culinary craftsmanship.
Restaurant 500 has a captivating story to tell. It has been serving delectable dishes since 2011, taking over the legacy of the renowned Czech pub, U Písecké Brány, which had been a staple since the 1920s. The restaurant underwent a transformation into a modern industrial space with outdoor seating, characterized by a distinct yellow Fiat 500 above the bar that inspired its name.
What sets Restaurant 500 apart is the emphasis on selecting healthy and seasonal ingredients to tantalize your taste buds. The menu boasts a variety of options, from gourmet steaks and fresh fish to delectable burgers and house-made pasta.
Don’t miss their Margherita pizza served with fresh burrata—it’s a specialty that will transport you straight to Italy. And for a taste of traditional Czech cuisine, visit on Wednesdays to savor the authentic “Echt” dishes.

Místodržitelský letohrádek
Next stop? The picturesque Místodržitelský letohrádek. As I pedaled a Rekola bike from Hradčany back home to Bohnice on a sun-soaked day, destiny had other plans. A slight detour through the enchanting streets of Bubeneč led me to a breathtaking summit in Stromovka park.
Místodržitelský letohrádek holds a fascinating history. It stands on the grounds where a Gothic hunting lodge once stood, now only the tower with its staircase remains.
Its current Renaissance appearance dates back to the late 16th century, with an additional wing constructed in 1804-1805, inspired by English Neo-Gothic style. Originally intended for the highest burgrave, it was later lent to the highest royal governors for their summer enjoyment from 1849 onwards.
Today, this charming structure houses the library of the National Museum. And it has also served as a backdrop for numerous films set in old England, including the Czech film “Fantom Morrisvillu.”
From the terrace of Místodržitelský letohrádek, you’ll be treated to a magnificent view of the entire park and the slopes of the northern part of Prague. It’s a sight to behold!
One interesting fact: In February 2021, someone placed a sign naming it the “Vyhlídka Alexeje Navalného” (Alexei Navalny Viewpoint) in reference to the Russian opposition politician. Although not an official name, it adds a touch of curiosity to this already captivating spot.

Výstaviště Refreshment Points
If you’re still with me on this exhilarating journey, get ready to indulge in a dose of refreshment and fun that’s bound to tickle your taste buds and lift your spirits. Our next adventure unfolds at Výstaviště, right within the enchanting embrace of Stromovka park.
First up, we have Bistro NO. 2. They’ve got a decent selection of snacks such as sandwiches, burgers, and quesadillas. They use local suppliers and organic farms, so you know their food is top-notch. And don’t forget to grab a cup of good coffee or a refreshing draft prosecco or a pint of beer from the U Vacků brewery while you’re there.
Next on the list is Artyčok Bistro. These guys are all about Italian specialties: pizza straight from the oven, homemade lemonades, aromatic coffee, and creamy soft-serve ice cream. Yum!
Last but definitely not least, we have Gauč na Výstavišti. This place is a summer hub of Prague’s cultural and social life. They host epic music, theater, and art performances. It’s like a never-ending party! Salsa nights, undiscovered bands on Mondays, quiz and board game evenings, flamenco, themed food events, beer and wine festivals—you name it, they’ve got it. Oh, and did I mention you can even have breakfast in the grass? Now that’s what I call a perfect morning.
Personally, I love cruising through the park on my bike, and these spots are perfect pit stops for drinks and good times with friends.
So there you have it, my fellow seekers of adventure and flavor—a day that begins with a culinary masterpiece, embraces history and beauty, and ends with refreshment and revelry. From the quiet charm of Restaurant 500 to the awe-inspiring views from Místodržitelský letohrádek and the vibrant energy of Stromovka, Prague has once again opened its treasure trove to those willing to explore.
