The Biggest Prague Lockdown Changes – 6. How to Keep Up To Date?
Welcome to the Prague Lockdown mini-series where I share with you my 6 biggest changes caused by the Prague lockdown, how I dealt with them, and some tips which you can try too. This time let’s focus on how to keep up to date.
How to Keep Up To Date?
A lie can run around the world before the truth has got its boots on.
Terry Pratchett, The Truth
Ok, the Czech government doesn’t make it easy for us to keep up to date. When the first Prague lockdown happened, there were some new changes and restrictions placed what seemed like every other day. I would try to check the news daily but it didn’t seem to either bring more clarity or make me feel better. I tried an experiment.
What if I just ignore the news completely? The result was what you probably expect. Everything I need to know always gets to me through some source anyway. Mainly through the people, I’m in contact with – my colleagues, my friends, my family. And if I want to fact-check some specific information I look it up either at the Ministry of Health website or at the relatively new platform Covid Portal. That little experiment saves me a lot of time and sanity points.
TIPS:
1.Limit the amount of time you spend reading or watching things which aren’t making you feel better. Perhaps decide on a specific time to check in with the news.
2.Stick to trusted sources of information such as the two listed above.
3.Resist spreading negative news about the count of deaths etc.
4.Don’t engage in conspiracy theories.
How to Cope and Stay Sane and Happy amid the Prague Lockdown?
It’s tough to deal with all the changes. No matter what your situation is, it’s not that straightforward to answer the question of how to cope and stay sane and happy during the Prague lockdown. That’s why I decided to dedicate the next several posts to trying to get some answers.

- I’m putting together an expat-friendly guide with tips on where to call or who to contact in case you or your close one need some support.
- And, as always, I will sum it all up at the beginning of December and throw in some easy, actionable tips.
And how do you keep up to date? A lot of you joined in the discussion on my Facebook page and shared your tips. Do you have some more tips on how to deal with the Prague lockdown? Keep the conversation going!
