The Biggest Prague Lockdown Changes – 3. How to Stay Active?
Welcome to the Prague Lockdown mini-series where I share with you my 6 biggest changes caused by the Prague lockdown, how I dealt with them, and some tips which you can try too. This time let’s focus on how to stay active.
How to Stay Active?
Good things come to those who sweat.

The first Prague lockdown came with new trends. We all still wanted to feel free and normal. And so the streets and parks filled with people taking a stroll, jogging, biking, or roller-blading. Wanna go for an ice-cream? – became our code word for going for a short walk around our parks-filled neighborhood with my boyfriend. We updated the code to a piece of carrot cake or svařák this autumn. But I had bigger plans for me.
I couldn’t wait to ride my bike every day. Tomorrow I will do it. I promised myself again and again. As the tires on my bike went more and more flat, I realized it’s not gonna happen. I felt good at home and whenever I wanted some fresh air I sat on the balcony and watched people walk their dogs. I still wanted to stay active though.
The one thing I found that has been consistently working for me is yoga. It doesn’t discriminate based on physique, strength, or stamina. It’s not about perfection or looking one specific way and I don’t need to push over my limits. That’s exactly what I need – a practice I can make my own! It also doesn’t require much space, special equipment, or tons of time. And the fact that there are tons of free videos and even live online lessons makes it super easy for me to do yoga every day.
TIPS:
1.Try to go (safely) out to nature – walk, jog, bike…
2.Find some form of exercise that you enjoy and you can do every day for at least a few minutes.
3.If you find it hard to motivate yourself try to team-up (even online) with a buddy.
