Prague Success Projects – 2020 Hindsight and Inspiration of the Month
What were your Prague success projects in 2020? What was one thing that most improved your life? And – What do you wanna take with you into this year? When I asked those questions to the Praguers I had the chance to interview last year, I got many inspiring answers. Honestly, I have a hard time being angry with 2020. Sure, it was a screwed up year, but so many good things came out of it. So welcome to 2021 and if you want a piece of last year’s inspiration, read on.
Focused On: Prague Success Projects in 2020 and a Peek into 2021
I interviewed some of the extraordinary people of Prague this year. What happened with their projects in 2020? Where are they now? And – Will they give us a peek into 2021?
Things That Improved Their Lives in 2020
As a bonus, some of the Praguers I talked to last year shared what was the one most important thing that improved their life in 2020.
Bára
“Every single sunrise and sunset moved me forward. I really appreciate the opportunity to exhibit paintings in the club Žižkovšiška in January 2020 – I realized again, on this occasion, how important is the support of friends and that they believe in my life role as a painter.”
Gordon
“Quitting smoking cigarettes is the biggest and best thing anyone with this bad habit could do. For your own self and for the world! I have been a smoker since 14 years of age with only one quit before about five years ago for six months. So now on the turn of my 50’s I quit again on the 20th December 2019. Therefore just the other day I could celebrate one year of my new life. I cannot express enough how much of an improvement to one’s quality of life becoming a non-smoker can make.”
“There are many levels, health both mental and physical, fitness, and the power of proper breathing, sociability, independence, freedom from corporation addiction, defiant self-confidence, and more. Choking smokers the joker laughs at you! The thing is it’s not even that difficult to do – just make a decision and be ready to stand firm for a couple of weeks, after that its poison will leave you in peace and your new life thus begins. A year on I am like reborn, I have so much more power and drive, my fitness has increased in fact I’m fitter perhaps than ever before in adult life.”
“Since April I have become vegan, which I recommend as a major life reset and has the same kind of effect as non-smoking, a total lifestyle improvement of mind, body, and soul. I look and feel so much better and spiritually I have become guilt-free which is a true balsam for the soul. During the lockdown, I discovered yoga movement and breathing techniques and what more can I say other than the rewards are so great that I would encourage anyone of any age or situation to commit these things like magical holistic self-empowering pre-solutions, a long term plan for your premeditated life improvements.”
“I would say that if you are interested at all to change the world then start with your own self and become liberated to be no longer part of the problem but actively part of the cure. Non-conformation, we must do all that is within our power not to become part of the enemy.”
“Finally, I also celebrate this New Year that I don’t drink alcohol for 11 years now and that is something I wish only I had not been part of my psychology earlier in life – people there is no more time to waste!”
Klez
“I don’t think that screens will make us happy in the long term. We need to learn how to use them wisely. We should, for instance, include more diversity in our online consumption. I’m personally using Google but also Qwant, a European search engine, not tracking my searches. You can also check Ecosia. I also find movies from many different countries, same with books and music… Voilà!”
Heidi
“I did quit smoking. I also dramatically reduced my alcohol consumption. I’ve done several dry months this year and hardly touch alcohol. I also saved some money as it turns out if you spend most of your money on moving around, you tend to save money by not going anywhere. Also, with nonessential businesses being closed for parts of the year, I didn’t spend it on so much random stuff.”
Maarten
“I play a musical instrument every day for at least 30 minutes. Or learn a new skill. I picked up JavaScript during the lockdown. I’m currently still learning more things. The end goal would be to land a job as a front-end developer.”
Marek
“Blue light blocking protective glasses.”
Marley
“Learning to make time and space for people I care about. I am sometimes too stuck with myself and work, and this year showed me that it’s important to let go of that too and give your time to someone else. It’s very rewarding.”
