Prague Explorer: Friendship Park And Other Unexpected Prague Gems
What are some great, lesser-known Prague markets, parks, restaurants, cafés, events, or musicians? Let’s discover Prague together! Here are some ideas I collected for you in the past weeks that you need to check out including Friendship Park and other unexpected gems.
Markets & Fairs: Čimice Market – Authentic Prague Market Place
Náplavka, Karlín, Jiřák… Have you already visited all the popular farmer’s markets and are looking for something fresh now? Get out of the comfort zone of the city center and witness the authentic Czech market atmosphere.
At Čimice Market, beer flows from 8 AM, having a hot dog for breakfast is standard, and you can get a complimentary slivovice shot with your coffee order from a good-humored coffee lady, or extra kremrolkas, like Alex and I at DobráKávička.cz
🛒Every Saturday (in selected months) 8 AM – 12 PM at OC Draháň.
Nature & Trips: Friendship Park – The Green and Blue Paradise
You can find Friendship Park or in Czech, Park přátelství, in the Prague district called Prosek. It’s a green area with the longest artificial water system in Prague. You can imagine it as a set of cascading mini-lakes. The locals gather there around a beer garden and toddlers bathe in the ponds.
I find it a perfect place to meet friends to play some music, games or just chat.
Culture & Community: Get To Know Dvůr Kobylisy
Dvůr was originally a farm, and later one of the first Prague cinemas, Orient, was established there in a barn. In the last couple of years, Dvůr has finally opened its doors to the public.
Dvůr Kobylisy is a space where you can support local and small producers with your purchase. I love it for its friendly-neighborly vibes, as a place to see people of all generations with the common goal to have a good time together and enjoy live gigs of local musicians.
Come see it for yourself:

Restaurants, Cafés & Pubs: Náplavka Treasures – Botel Matylda – Luxurious and Affordable
Botel Ristorante Matylda is a family-run boat hotel and restaurant with both outdoor and indoor seating areas where you can enjoy Italian-style cuisine with a seaside resort atmosphere.
If you love water, boats, and Náplavka, this is a great place to enjoy a special moment like I did with my girlfriends on the occasion of a bachelorette party. The staff is super friendly and the food delicious.
Music in Prague: A Surgeon Turned Musician – The Unusual Prague Story of Gabriele Felici
Gabriele is an Italian singer and songwriter. Within a couple of months of moving to Prague, he was booking daily gigs in local pubs and restaurants, being recognized as a captivating performer. “I had people who stayed at a place for two hours just because of me. I saw some people even cry.” He is sought for his versatility and approachability, playing a mix of folk, pop, and rock covers as well as his own songs using loop-station and multiple instruments. “My main instrument is guitar, but I can play up to 20 instruments.”
Live performing is where Gabriele feels at home and where he excels at moving the audience. During the lockdown, he also started producing his own songs and music videos. “I learned to do it all by myself. In the tracks, I play all the instruments and do the vocals. I also do the mastering by myself.” His songs are primarily about love. Some in Italian and some in English; they touch feelings. “The topic of love might seem trivial, but the lyrics aren’t.”
